Drury University junior forward Cameron Adams has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Adams helped the No. 3 Panthers win their 31st and 32nd straight games and improve to 9-0 this past week after averaging 25.0 points on 75 percent shooting, 8.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 30.5 minutes of play.
The Ft. Smith, Ark., native led Drury to a sweep at the Cruzin Classic in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., with career highs of 26 points and 14 boards in the Panthers’ 81-80 victory over 13th-ranked Livingstone last Wednesday. Adams then followed up on Thursday by pouring in 25 points in a 75-71 victory over Nova Southeastern. He finished the week 18-of-24 from the floor.
Adams, who is averaging a team-high 18.1 points per game on the season, notches his first career weekly honor from the conference and is the first Panther to be recognized by the league since Alex Hall earned Player of the Week on March 4, 2013.
Drury will return to action after the New Year with a pair of GLVC cross-division contests at the O’Reilly Family Event Center. The Panthers host Saint Joseph’s at 8 p.m. CT on Friday, Jan. 3, followed by a 3:15 p.m. matchup against Indianapolis on Sunday, Jan. 5.
