INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana’s Allison Shafer (Plainville, Ind.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Female Track and Field Athlete of the Week. The sophomore distance runner placed 16th in the 10,000 meter run at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. on April 13.

Shafer completed the run in a time of 35:51.74, eclipsing the school record of 36:36.60. The former record was established in 2002 by Casey Schneider.

She also qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships by posting the time.
