University of Indianapolis junior Justin Rossillo and senior Julia Madeira were respectively named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week, it was announced by the league office Tuesday following a vote from the conference’s head coaches.

Both Greyhounds were honored for their efforts in last week’s home dual meet against Grand Valley State, where the UIndy men downed the Lakers 181-119, while the women were victorious, 169-129.

Rossillo met NCAA B standards in all four races in which he competed, including winning efforts in the 100 backstroke (50.56) and 100 freestyle (45.79) events, as well as the 400 medley relay (45.01 split) and the 400 freestyle medley relay (45.90 split).

This is the first career weekly honor for the Fishers, Ind., native, and the first for a Greyhound swimmer since Tyler Offutt was recognized on Oct. 15, 2013.

Madeira is the only UIndy women’s swimmer to be honored this year, but the Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, native has now won the accolade three teams.  She was also honored by the league on Oct. 15 and Nov. 12.

Against the Lakers, Madeira registered four first-place finishes in the 50 free (24.12), 100 free (53.41), 400 medley relay (52.78 split) and the 400 freestyle medley relay (51.0 split).

This is the second time this season the Greyhounds have swept weekly honors. Madeira and Offutt were both recognized earlier this year on Oct. 15.

Up next for the Hounds is a dual at GLVC-member Lewis on Saturday, which will serve as UIndy's last regular-season event of the year.
