INDIANAPOLIS – Bellarmine University junior distance specialist Emily Frith and University of Indianapolis senior thrower Tatiana Zhuravleva have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, it was announced on Wednesday.
Zhuralevleva won both the women's shot put and 20-pound weight throws at the Tom Hathaway Challenge this past weekend. She improved upon her NCAA provisional qualifying marks in the weight (17.99m) and shot (14.40), which are the best among GLVC competitors and among the top 15 on the NCAA performance list.
Zhuraveleva, a native of Kaze, Russia, garners her second career weekly award, as she was honored with Frith on Jan. 29, 2014.
