INDIANAPOLIS – Maryville junior guard Shelby Miller was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, it was announced by the league on Monday.

Miller led the Saints with 51 points and 14 rebounds in three road wins last week.  Against No. 10 Quincy, Miller hit four critical free throws in the final minutes to lead Maryville in an upset win over the Lady Hawks at Pepsi Arena.  She finished the game with 16 points, five rebounds, two assists, and connected on 5-of-6 free-throws.  In the Saints 77-67 win at McKendree, Miller ended with 11 points, three rebounds, and three assists en route to her 20th double digit score of the season.   Two days later, she followed up with 24 points, six rebounds, and nailed five three-pointers to help the Saints set a school record with 18 three-pointers as Maryville posted a 90-84 victory at Truman State.

For the week, Miller amassed 17.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 33.7 minutes of court time.  The Elizabeth, Ind., native completed the week 15-of-33 (.455) from the floor, 11-of-15 (.733) from the free-throw line, and 10-of-20 from beyond the arc.  She leads Maryville in scoring (15.5), free-throws made (3.9), defensive rebounds (3.8), assists (3.3), three-point made (2.1), and steals (2.0).

Miller, who is averaging 15.5 points per game for the Saints (17-10, 10-7 GLVC), earns her first career weekly honor from the conference.  She is also the first Maryville standout to be recognized as GLVC Player of the Week since Abby Duethman received the award on Dec. 17, 2012.
