INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Kyle Rose (Kankakee, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Male Track and Field Athlete of the Week. The junior sprinter posted a NCAA Division II automatic qualifying time of 46.42 in the 400 meter dash at the Vanderbilt Invitational on April 21.
Rose won the event and his time of 46.42 places him first on the GLVC Outdoor Performance List this season and second in the NCAA Division II rankings.
In addition to his performance in the 400 meters, Rose also posted a time of 10.73 in the 100 meter dash which ranks him first among GLVC performers.
He was also a key member of the SIUE 4x400 meter relay team which finished in a time of 3:09.41 at the Vanderbilt Invitational. The time was .01 seconds off a NCAA Division II automatic qualifying time and is ranked first among GLVC relay teams this season and third in the nation.
SIUE placed seventh as a team at the Vanderbilt Invitational and garnered 46.83 points among a field of 26 teams.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Lewis’ Adrian Myers, Missouri-Rolla’s Chris Carsten, Saint Joseph’s Grant Dean, Southern Indiana’s Tim Sirbek, UIndy’s Anthony Flournoy and Northern Kentucky’s Adam Stoppelwerth.
