University of Indianapolis redshirt sophomore catcher Alex Ritchie and William Jewell College junior pitcher Preston Felgate have been respectively named the Great Lakes Valley Conference baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, it was announced by the conference office Monday.

Ritchie had a stellar four-game series against visiting Truman State this past weekend, helping the Greyhounds to a 2-2 split with the West Division newcomers. He finished 10-for-15 (.667) from the dish, reaching 15 total bases, scoring eight runs and hitting his first homer of the season. He also went all four games without striking out.

In Friday's opener, Ritchie went 3-for-4 with a double and one run scored in the Hounds' 10-5 loss. In the nightcap, Ritchie was already 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI when he stepped to the plate in the bottom of the seventh and delivered the team’s second-straight home run to win the 10-9 game in walk-off fashion.  The Indianapolis, Ind., native had just one hit in Saturday's opener, a 7-5 loss, but it was a two-RBI single that went along with a stolen base and a sacrifice bunt for his effort.  He completed the weekend with a 3-for-3 performance in UIndy's 11-1 series finale win, scoring four runs and notching his second double of the weekend.

The award is the first of Ritchie’s career and he is the first Hound to be honored by the conference since teammate Zach Jacobs was named GLVC Player of the Week on Feb. 24, 2014.
