INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Steve Doll (Pocohontas, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Player of the Week.

 

Doll, a junior first baseman for the Cougars, helped his team to six wins last week and batted .435 in the process.

 

He collected seven RBIs in Drury’s 23-4 opening game win over Drury University on April 26. Doll was 3-for-5 in the game with a home run and triple. He returned in SIUE’s 6-1 win in the day’s second game versus Drury to go 1-for-4 with two RBIs.

 

Doll was 6-for-14 in SIUE’s four-game sweep of Lewis over the weekend. He went 4-for-5 with four RBIs and three runs scored in the Cougars’ 18-2 series-opening win.

 

For the week, he was 10-for-23 with 10 runs, 15 RBIs, four walks, a triple and home run. Doll is hitting .277 on the year with 33 RBIs and 10 doubles.

 

SIUE extended its current winning streak to seven games with a 6-0 record last week. The Cougars (32-13) are 23-10 in league play and in first place in the GLVC standings.

  

Other top performances in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Jeff Dillman, Drury’s Joe Rohlfing, Kentucky Wesleyan’s Matt Martin, Missouri-St. Louis’ Adam Whitehead, Northern Kentucky’s Jake Shaffer, Quincy’s Scott Hauber and Southern Indiana’s Darin Mastroianni.
