INDIANAPOLIS – Rockhurst’s senior third baseman Alex Jacobson and Bellarmine’s sophomore outfielder/pitcher Ally Foster have been selected the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, it was announced by the league on Tuesday.

Jacobson recorded 10 hits in 23 at-bats, including four homeruns, for a .435 batting average over the course of six games to lead Rockhurst (12-18, 7-9 GLVC) to a 3-3 performance last week.  The upperclassman scored six times, drove in 11 RBI’s, and stole two bases for her fifth swipe of the season.  Jacobson opened the week with homeruns in both ends of Wednesday’s doubleheader against William Jewell.  In the weekend series at Maryville, she extended her homerun streak to a school record eight consecutive games, going 4-for-8 against the Saints with six RBI’s.  In Sunday’s nightcap,  Jacobson continued her reached-base streak to 12 consecutive games after going 3-for-8 at the plate against No. 10 Missouri-St. Louis.  The Cedar Rapids, Iowa, native lead the team with 10 homeruns, 25 runs scored, 23 RBI’s, seven walks, and is fourth with a .345 batting average.

The award is the first of Jacobson’s career and she is the first Hawk to be honored by the conference since teammate Demi Plathe was named GLVC Player of the Week on March 11, 2013.
