INDIANAPOLIS – Rockhurst’s senior third baseman Alex Jacobson and Bellarmine’s sophomore outfielder/pitcher Ally Foster have been selected the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, it was announced by the league on Tuesday.

In the circle, Foster made four appearances, three in relief where she recorded two saves, and two wins, including a complete game nine inning 2-1 victory against McKendree in game two.  In 14.1 innings fanned, Foster struck out 19 batters and allowed just one run for a 0.49 ERA.  She surrendered five hits as opposing batters hit .109 off her during the week.  The Louisville, Ky., native split time between pitcher and outfield in leading the Knights to a 5-1 record helping Bellarmine (23-7, 16-2) maintain its lead in the GLVC East.  She batted .438 on the week and twice led off games by hitting a home run.  In her 16 at bats, Foster amassed eight runs scored, seven hits, and three RBI’s.  She also drew six walks and posted a .640 on base percentage and .875 slugging percentage. 
 
This is Foster’s first weekly honor and the first for a Bellarmine pitcher since Alicia Miller was honored on March 4, 2013.
