INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – SIU Edwardsville’s Kaitlin Colosimo (Orland Park, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week.
Colosimo, a sophomore pitcher for the Cougars, helped her team to a 4-0 record last week by playing a key role in three of the victories.
She collected a save in SIUE’s 5-3 win over UIndy on April 28 by pitching a scoreless seventh inning. Colosimo did not allow a hit and struck out two in the appearance.
She returned in game two versus the Greyhounds to pick up a complete-game one-hit shutout in the Cougars 2-0 victory. She struck out eight and did not allow a walk.
Colosimo capped the weekend with a 9-1, six-inning victory over visiting Saint Joseph’s. She went all six innings and allowed five hits and one run, while striking out seven.
For the week, she went 2-0 with a 0.50 earned run average, one save and 17 strikeouts. She allowed just six hits in 14 innings of work. Overall, Colosimo is 21-3 with a 1.27 earned run average. She has made 34 appearances and has struck out 152 hitters in 137.2 innings of work.
12th-ranked SIUE (37-8) went 19-5 in the GLVC this season and is the No. 2 seed in the upcoming GLVC Tournament.
Other top performances in the GLVC last week included Kentucky Wesleyan’s Haleigh Ashworth , Lewis’ Courtney Lyons, Quincy’s Megan Corey, Rockhurst’s Heather Robertson and Southern Indiana’s Amy Harrison.
