Southern Indiana junior catcher/infield MacKenzi Dorsam and Missouri-St. Louis sophomore pitcher Hannah Perryman have been selected the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, it was announced by the league on Tuesday.
Perryman posted a 2-0 record after tossing a pair of complete game shut-outs in 14.0 innings fanned in Missouri-St. Louis’ 4-0 outing against Drury (2-0) and Missouri S&T (12-0), respectively. In the circle, Perryman allowed jus two hits and struck out 31 batters to finish with a 0.00 ERA. With the wins, she improved to 14-3-2, and is responsible for eight league wins for the Tritons. Against Drury, she struck out the first 16 batters faced, en route to a career-best 20 strike outs that tied the NCAA seven-inning single game record (Florida Southern’s Dori Stankewitz against Tampa on March 14, 1987). With the 20 strikeouts, Perryman became the Tritons all-time career leader in that category and now has 540. She ended the week, tossing 11 strikeouts against Missouri S&T, where she retired the first nine batters. The Streamwood, Ill., native leads Missouri-St. Louis in strikeouts (188) and innings pitched (100.1) appearances (20), and currently tops the country in strikeouts per seven innings (13.1).
This is the third honor of the season and eighth weekly career award for Perryman, as she was recognized by the league on February 17 and March 24.
