Lewis senior Zsofia Lanstiak has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week, it was announced by the league on Tuesday.
 
Last week, Lanstiak extended her singles winning streak to eight matches in the Flyers' 2-0 showing over division foes Illinois Springfield (9-0) and Bellarmine (9-0), respectively.  In singles play, Lanstiak defeated UIS' Faith Hook 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 2 position, and the Knights' Michelle McFerren by scores 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 1 flight.  In those four matches, she lost a total of two games to extend her singles winning-streak to eight and her doubles win mark to 13 matches.
 
The Budapest, Hungary, native, ranks 24th nationally and No. 1 in the Midwest Region, and owns a 48-8 combined singles/doubles ledger, including 23-6 in singles, and sports a 25-2 dual match record alongside partner Zsofia Kranczicki, and they are ranked No. 3 in the country in doubles play.
 
This is the first honor of the season and eighth weekly career award for Lanstiak since being recognized by the league on April 16, 2013.
