University of Wisconsin-Parkside senior Jessica Watychowicz and University of Indianapolis senior Tatiana Zhuravleva have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, it was announced on Friday.
Zhuravleva earns consecutive conference accolades herself after she dominated the competition at the Bellarmine Invitational this past weekend. The Kaze, Russia, native threw an NCAA automatic mark of 52.16 meters in the discus, which ranks first among GLVC competitors and among the top five nationally. She followed her effort with an NCAA provisional mark of 14.35 meters in the shot put and a third-place finish in the hammer throw with a toss of 48.70 meters. Zhuraveleva is currently ranked among the top three in the conference in all three throwing events.
