INDIANAPOLIS – Drury University junior third baseman Carson Forge and University of Indianapolis sophomore pitcher Morgan Foley have been selected the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, it was announced by the league on Monday.
Carson led the Lady Panthers with a .429 (6-for-14) batting average and seven RBIs in four road games against cross division foes Illinois Springfield and McKendree, respectively. She posted three multi-hit games, collected a .929 slugging average, and had a .467 on base percentage for the week. Carson powered Drury to a 6-2 victory over UIS last Saturday, after accruing a 4-2 win against the Prairie Stars earlier where she had a triple with a two-run shot in the fifth inning. Against McKendree, Carson hit her fifth homerun of the season in the series opener (9-3) and a double in the night cap (2-6). The Hallsville, Mo., native led Drury to a 3-1 showing after hoarding three assists on six put-outs.
This is Forge’s first career weekly award and the first for a Drury player since Andi Anti was honored on March 14, 2011.
