INDIANAPOLIS – Quincy University senior shortstop Kenny May and University of Missouri-St. Louis junior pitcher Zach Sedlacek have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday.
May was 10-for-19 (.526) at the plate this past weekend with 10 runs batted in and seven runs scored in a 4-1 week that included a 3-1 mark over conference foe William Jewell. May recorded three doubles and a triple with three walks, and finished the week with an on-base percentage of .545 and a slugging percentage of .750. The Fairview Heights, Ill., native started off the weekend series against William Jewell going 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI in the 13-2 win. He followed up with a 3-for-3 game two recording two RBI and a double. May was a homerun short of the cycle in game three, finishing 3-for-4 with a single, double and triple, while registering five RBI in another 13-2 win.
This is the first weekly honor of May’s career and the first for a Quincy standout since Drake Austin was recognized on March 26, 2012.
