Elrod accumulated 293 all-purpose yards -- 226 on seven kickoff returns -- including a 91-yard return of the game's opening kickoff for a touchdown in the Miners' 40-23 loss at Midwestern State.  Elrod averaged 32.3 yards on his seven returns, which also included runbacks of 33 yards and three additional ones of 23 or more yards.  Elrod became the eighth specialist in GLVC history to accumulate a conference-record seven returns, while his 226 return yards shattered the previous league mark of 168 yards, which also came on seven returns by Kentucky Wesleyan’s Jeff Ward on Sept. 14, 2013.  His 91-yard touchdown return ties Lincoln’s Morris Henderson’s mark set last week that ranks seventh all-time in league history.  In addition, he had two pass receptions for 69 yards in the contest.  This is Elrod’s first career weekly award and the first for a Miner since Melvin Stovall was honored with the GLVC’s offensive accolade on Nov. 11, 2013.  The last time a Miner special teams honoree was recognized was Smook Thomas on Nov. 12, 2012.
