INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference has named Truman State sophomore outside hitter Kayla Bastian and Rockhurst junior middle hitter Preecy Seever as its Baden Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, it was announced by the league office Monday.
 
Bastian averaged 3.83 kills, 2.92 digs, and 4.04 points per set, while hitting .327 in three regional matches of which two were conference contests last week to lead Truman State to a 3-0 record.  Against Illinois Springfield, she collected a career-high 23 kills, hitting a career-best .488 with a 23-3-41 attack line.  Bastian also added eight digs and two block assists for 24 total points in the match.  Her dominant play continued against UW-Parkside where she averaged 3.0 kills per set against the Rangers, finishing with six digs and a block assist for 9.5 total points.  She rounded out the week with 14 kills and a career-high 21 digs over Lewis where Truman prevailed 3-2.  The Kewaskum, Wis., native is averaging 3.26 kills, 3.04 digs, and 0.26 blocks per set and hitting .239 overall for the Bulldogs.  This is the first career weekly award for Bastian and the first for Truman State since teammate Allie Brak earned the honor on Oct. 14, 2013.
