INDIANAPOLIS – Quincy University sophomore defender Xhovani Dokaj and Rockhurst University senior goalkeeper Stefano Radio have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week in men’s soccer, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Dokaj helped lead No. 22 Quincy to a pair of shutout conference wins this past week, accounting for five of the seven goals scored by the Hawks. In the 3-0 win over Southern Indiana in the GLVC opener Friday, Dokaj was responsible for all three goals with one netter and two assists. The reigning GLVC Freshman of the Year’s header goal against USI came in the 85th minute on Friday and sparked a three-goal flurry that took just three minutes and 23 seconds. On Sunday, the St. Louis, Mo., native scored the first goal against Illinois Springfield in the 16th minute and assisted on the second goal in the 4-0 victory. Dokaj finished the weekend with two game-winning goals, three assists, and seven points. This is Dokaj’s second career weekly award as he was also recognized as GLVC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 30, 2013.
