INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference has named Truman State’s senior outside hitter Allie Brak and junior middle hitter Ali Patterson as its Baden Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Brak and Patterson guided Truman State to a 3-0 record with wins against McKendree (3-1), No. 20 West Texas A&M (3-0), and Illinois Springfield (3-1) last week, which earned the Bulldogs co-leaders in the GLVC West Division standings.
Patterson claims her first league honor and lead Truman State in blocks (41) on the season. She averaged 2.30 blocks per set, along with 2.80 kills and 0.80 digs while hitting .448 at the net for the Bulldogs. Against McKendree, she collected a career-high nine blocks and seven kills, before turning around with a kill-block double-double with 13 kills and 10 blocks over nationally ranked West Texas A&M. Her blocking efforts landed her in the Truman States top-eight in single-game block assists. The Lee’s Summit, Mo., native hit .333 (7-0-21) against the Bearcats and .458 (13-2-24) over the Lady Buffs. Patterson wrapped up the week with four blocks in just three sets versus Illinois Springfield, while also adding a .615 hitting line (8-0-13). For the season, she is third on the team in kills (71) and points (100.0) per set, while leading the squad with 1.37 blocks per set (nearly three-tenths of a point higher than her 1.05/set last season).
This week, Truman State (8-2, 4-0 GLVC) will battle intra-division foes Missouri-St. Louis and Maryville, respectively.
