INDIANAPOLIS – Lewis University sophomore James Frederickson has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Runner of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Frederickson crossed the finish line with a career-best showing of 25 minutes, 47.93 seconds at the National Catholic Championships, hosted by Notre Dame on Friday. His effort was good enough for a sixth-place finish in the non-Division I competition, which saw Lewis place sixth overall in the 24-team field.
This is the first weekly honor for Frederickson and the first for a Flyer since Sean Smith was recognized by the conference on Sept. 10, 2013.
The Flyers return to action in two weeks, as they head to Kentucky to participate in the Greater Louisville Classic on Oct. 4.
