Wilkes, making his first start at quarterback for the Miners, completed 13-of-22 passes for 300 yards -- averaging 23.1 yards per completion -- and accounted for all four S&T touchdowns in its 28-21 victory at Southwest Baptist. The Maryland Heights, Missouri native threw three scoring passes, two to Melvin Stovall from three and 76 yards away, and one to Nick Taylor covering 14 yards, while also rushing for one as S&T built a 28-7 lead by halftime. Wilkes also had nine yards on the ground to give him 309 yards of total offense for the evening. This is Wilkes’ first weekly honor of his career and the first for an S&T offensive player since Stovall, his primary target Saturday, was honored as GLVC Offensive Player of the Week on Nov. 11, 2013.
