INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference has named Drury University junior outside hitter BJ Specht and Truman State University senior libero Abby Moser Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Moser led Truman State (10-2, 6-0) to a perfect mark, carding victories over Missouri-St. Louis (3-1) and Maryville (3-0) last week. The Bulldogs' upper classman set career marks after averaging 6.29 digs per set and recorded her sixth career 30+ dig match as Truman won two intra-division road matches. The Wildwood, Missouri, native opened the weekend with 31 digs and one assist outing against the Tritons in four sets to average 6.29 digs per set. The endeavor was her sixth career 30+ dig match and 43rd career 20+ dig match – both program records. On Saturday, Moser recorded 13 digs in three sets against the Saints, while also adding a service ace and a pair of assists. The double-digit dig outing raised her career total to 101 – the third-most in program history. For the season, she is averaging 4.43 digs per set, while she moved into 2nd place on Truman's all-time digs chart during the weekend. She now sits with 1,999 career digs. This week's honor is the first career nod for Moser, and the fourth recognition for Truman State since Ali Patterson and Allie Brak swept the award last week, while Kayla Bastian received the accolade on Sept. 15.
