INDIANAPOLIS – Bellarmine University sophomore forward Mary Beth Gorham and Quincy University freshman goalkeeper Megan Swanson have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week in women’s soccer, it was announced by the league office Monday.

Swanson was impressive in goal for the Lady Hawks this past week, getting two shutout wins against conference foes Missouri S&T (3-0) and Drury (1-0).  Swanson recorded 11 saves on the weekend, including five against the Miners on Friday and six against Drury to close out the week.  The St. Charles, Missouri native faced 27 shots overall on the weekend in recording her fifth and sixth shutouts of the season. The Lady Hawks are now 6-3 with Swanson in goal on the season.   Swanson is the first Quincy defender to be honored by the league with a weekly award since Jodi Chapie on Oct. 14, 2013.
