INDIANAPOLIS – Lewis University redshirt junior Kristen Bonsor has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Runner of the Week in women’s cross country, it was released by the conference office on Tuesday.

Bonsor became the first Flyer in nearly four years to win a race, as she was first across the finish line in the 6,000-meter Brissman/Lundeen Women's Cross Country Invitational, hosted by Augustana, at the Saukie Golf Course this past Friday.  Her efforts helped the Flyers finished eighth overall with 250 points.

In her season debut, the Antioch, Illinois native won the race with a time of 21 minutes, 44 seconds in a field that included three NCAA Division II All-Americans and a pair of two NAIA All-Americans.  Her time ranks among the top five in school history and is the fastest 6K time in the GLVC this year.

She is the first Flyer to capture an individual title since Kathryn Hague won the 2010 GLVC Championship on Nov. 6, 2010.

This is Bonsor’s first career weekly honor and she is the first Flyer to be recognized by the league since Amanda Garrough on Sept. 17, 2013.

Lewis returns to action on Oct. 4 as the Flyers head to Kentucky to participate in the Greater Louisville Classic.
