INDIANAPOLIS – University of Indianapolis sophomore linebacker Rob Dury, Missouri S&T freshman linebacker Dillon Bowman, and William Jewell College junior running back Thomas Cook, Jr., have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Players of the Week, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Cook was tabbed GLVC Offensive Player of the Week, Dury was picked Defensive Player of the Week, while Bowman was named Special Teams Player of the Week.
Bowman blocked an extra point attempt by Saint Joseph’s’ Gavin Voss with 3:20 to play after the Pumas had scored to cut the Miner lead to one at 14-13. The blocked PAT proved to be a carbon copy of how S&T defeated the Pumas last year by the same score. In making his first start at linebacker, the St. Peters, Missouri, native had six tackles in a game, four of which were solo stops. This is Bowman’s first career weekly award and the first for an S&T special teams honoree since Spencer Elrod was recognized by the league on Sept. 15, 2014. Just this past week, the Miners earned both the league’s offensive and defensive accolades.
