INDIANAPOLIS – University of Indianapolis sophomore linebacker Rob Dury, Missouri S&T freshman linebacker Dillon Bowman, and William Jewell College junior running back Thomas Cook, Jr., have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Players of the Week, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Cook was tabbed GLVC Offensive Player of the Week, Dury was picked Defensive Player of the Week, while Bowman was named Special Teams Player of the Week.
Cook stuffed the stat sheet Saturday in the Cardinals’ 20-13 victory over Lincoln, helping Jewell improve to a 2-0 start in league play. The Dallas, Texas, native rushed for 119 yards on 27 carries while also hauling in 120 receiving yards on six catches, including one for a touchdown. In addition, Cook returned one kickoff for 33 yards and tallied two punt returns for 15 yards bringing his all-purpose yardage total to 287 yards, which ranks fifth all-time in GLVC history. This is Cook’s second weekly honor of the year as he was also tabbed GLVC Special Teams Player of the Week on Sept. 8. The accolade is the second offensive weekly honor (Oct. 28, 2013) of his career and now gives Cook four weekly awards in his three years at Jewell.
