INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference has named Lewis University senior setter Leigh Barea and Truman State University senior libero Abby Moser Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, it was announced by the league office Monday.

Barea guided East Division leader Lewis (13-2, 8-1 GLVC) to a 3-0 record with victories against UW-Parkside, Bellarmine and Southern Indiana, respectively.  She helped pace an offensive attack that registered 108 assists over nine sets and recorded her 14th 30 digit assist outing of the season.  The Battle Creek, Mich., native started play with 40 assists, 10 digs, three kills, and one service ace in a 3-0 win over the Rangers at Neil Carey Arena.  She followed that performance with 35 assists, nine digs, six kills, two block assists, and collected seven points to lead Lewis to its then 12th win of the season.
Against the Screaming Eagles, Barea committed zero errors on six attacks for two kills, dished 33 assists, 11 digs, and one service ace in the sweep.  The reigning All GLVC Second Team honoree concluded the week averaging 12.00 assists, 3.33 digs, and 1.22 kills per set, along with an efficient setting .411 mark.  Her 11 digs on Saturday was the 10th of the season and 42nd of her career.

This week's honor marks the second career honor for Barea, she earned the accolade Oct. 22, 2012, while Moser claims her second recognition of the season; she most recently won the award last week (Sept. 29).
