INDIANAPOLIS – Missouri S&T senior defender Sabrina Hostler and senior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Deister have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week in women’s soccer, it was announced by the league office Monday.

This is the first time a program has swept both weekly honors in the sport since the two awards were implemented prior to 2013 season.  This is also the first time an S&T standout has been recognized by the league office since Melissa Young earned GLVC Player of the Week on Oct. 25, 2010.

Hostler had her foot in each of the two Lady Miner goals this past week as Missouri S&T claimed 1-0 home victories over Missouri-St. Louis on Friday and Maryville on Sunday.  The St. Louis, Missouri native put S&T on the board early against UMSL, scoring the eventual game-winner in just the third minute of play.  Hostler was able to navigate through traffic and fired a low liner into the right corner from 10 yards away for her fourth tally of the season.  She had a couple of other opportunities but sent one wide off the post and headed another one right to the keeper to total four shots on the day.  In the win against the Saints on Sunday, Hostler assisted Julie Bride on the game-winning goal with 15:40 to play in the scoreless game.  Hostler took four shots on the day and helped her S&T club improve to 4-6 overall and 4-4 in league play.

Deister posted a pair of shutouts this past weekend in the Lady Miners’ pair of 1-0 victories. The senior made 14 saves in net and extended her streak of not allowing a goal at home in GLVC play to 573:26 minutes. In the win over the Tritons on Friday, Deister came up big making six of her eight saves in the second half to preserve her third shutout of the season. Her biggest save came in the 82nd minute as she stopped a shot from point blank range. On Sunday she kept Maryville off the board by making six saves, including a pair early in the second half to keep the game scoreless. She made three saves in each half in the winning effort.  At home this season, the St. Louis, Missouri native allowed a total of two goals in 512:47 and has a goals-against average of 0.44 and a save percentage of .923.
