INDIANAPOLIS – Drury University senior midfielder Alec Nagel and Lewis University senior defender David Pyle have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week in men’s soccer, it was announced by the league office Monday.

Nagel scored two late second-half goals, including the game-winning goal in Sunday’s 3-1 victory over second-place Missouri-St. Louis.  The game winner came at the 80:55 mark and then Nagel followed it up at 84:01, with both goals assisted by Charles Guelly.  The Jefferson City, Missouri native also netted a goal at the 82:37 mark in the Panthers’ 6-0 GLVC win over Maryville on Friday.  Nagel scored six points on the week, took four shots for a .750 shooting percentage, had three shots on goal, and had a .750 shots-on-goal percentage. Nagel leads the Panthers (8-2, 6-2 GLVC) with nine goals on the season and has scored two goals in three of the Panthers last four games.  He sits third in the GLVC with nine goals on the year trailing only Quincy’s Jordan Roberts and Xhovani Dkoaj (10).  This is the first weekly honoree for Nagel and the second for a Panther this year as Logan Ponche garnered GLVC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 8.  Offensively, this is the first time a Drury standout has been recognized since Micah Whorton earned GLVC Player of the Week accolades on Oct. 26, 2009.
