INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference has named Truman State's sophomore outside hitter Kayla Bastian and senior libero Abby Moser as its Baden Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Bastian and Moser guided Truman State to a 3-0 record at the seventh annual Mizuno GLVC/GLIAC Volleyball Crossover Tournament with wins against Findlay (3-0), Ohio Dominican (3-1), and No. 15 Ferris State (3-2), which earned the Bulldogs its 17th consecutive match win.
Moser claims her third league honor of the season and lead Truman State in digs (368) on the season. She averaged 5.42 digs per set and became Truman's all-time digs leader during the team's 3-0 weekend against three GLIAC schools. Moser opened the weekend with 17 digs in three sets (5.67/set) against Findlay, where she also dealt three service aces and added an assist. Then, against Ohio Dominican in the opening match on Saturday, she posted 18 digs in four sets (4.50/set) along with two assists in Truman's 3-1 victory. Finally, she recorded her seventh career 30+ dig match, hitting 30 in five sets (6.00/set) against Ferris State in Truman State's 3-2 win over the Bulldogs. She also added a career-high five assists and served one ace. Against Findlay, the Wildwood, Mo., native surpassed Neely Forbes' 20-year standing record in career digs (2,121) at Truman, as she now stands alone with 2,181 digs through the weekend. For the season, the senior is averaging 4.84 digs per set (up from her career average of 4.70) and has served 14 aces in 76 total sets.
