INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.Rockhurst University’s Rachel Fowler (St. Paul, Minn.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. The senior middle hitter led the Hawks to a 4-0 mark at the Rockhurst Classic held in Kansas City, Missouri over the weekend.

 

Fowler averaged 4.29 kills and 1.29 blocks per game while hitting at a .455 clip. The two-time All-GLVC selection was named to the All-Tournament Team for her strong efforts.

 

In the Hawks’ 30-22, 30-23, 30-24 win over Colorado-Colorado Springs on Aug. 31, Fowler posted six kills and four blocks. She returned in Rockhurst’s five-game victory over 21st-ranked Wayne State (Neb.) to convert 16 kills and collect three blocks.

 

On Sept. 1, Fowler helped Rockhurst to three-game victories over Grand Canyon and Nebraska-Kearney. She had 18 kills and seven blocks in the win over Grand Canyon and added 20 kills and four blocks against Nebraska Kearney. On the day, she posted hitting percentages of .593 and .621, respectively.

 

Fowler is averaging 3.72 kills, 1.41 blocks and a hitting percentage of .413 on the year.

 

Rockhurst improved to 7-1 overall with the wins and is currently ranked 20th in the CSTV/AVCA Top 25 Poll. The Hawks will travel to Missouri-St. Louis and Missouri-Rolla this weekend.
