INDIANAPOLIS – University of Wisconsin-Parkside senior Evan Lewandowski has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Runner of the Week in men’s cross country, it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Lewandowski clocked his fastest 8,000-meter time of the season on Saturday, placing third among a field of 664 runners at the UW-Oshkosh AAE Invitational. The senior toured the course in 24 minutes, 39.5 seconds, helping the 23rd-ranked Rangers place fifth among the 45-team field.
This is the fifth weekly honor of his career. The Medford, Wisconsin native was also recognized by the league on Oct. 1, 2014, Oct. 9, 2012, and Sept. 13 and Oct. 18, 2011.
The Rangers are idle the next two weekends before lacing up the spikes at the GLVC Championships on Saturday, Nov. 8 in Romeoville, Illinois.
