Bellarmine University senior midfielder Dan Schiavi and University of Missouri-St. Louis senior defender Tony Auck have been named the final Great Lakes Valley Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for the 2014 men's soccer season, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Auck, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, helped the Tritons to their eighth shutout of the season with a 3-0 win against crosstown rival Maryville on Wednesday. He anchored a back line that surrendered only two shots by the Saints. Auck also found a way to make an impact on the other side of the field, scoring his first career goal on a loose ball in the box at the 56:39 mark. This is his first career weekly award and the first for an UMSL standout since Jon Huelsman was named GLVC Offensive Player of the Week last month on Oct. 13.
