INDIANAPOLIS – McKendree University junior quarterback Isaac Fisher and sophomore linebacker A.J. Wentland, as well as University of Indianapolis kicker senior Scott Miller, have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Players of the Week in football, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Fisher was tabbed GLVC Offensive Player of the Week, Wentland was picked Defensive Player of the Week, while Miller was named Special Teams Player of the Week.
Miller earns his second straight weekly honor after another perfect game kicking. The Indianapolis, Indiana product was 3-for-3 on both extra points and field goal attempts. All three of his field goals – from 35, 39 and 33 yards – came in the second half and tied a GLVC record for most field goals in a game. Miller also continued to be a weapon in the punting game, as all three of his punts were downed inside the 20, including one at the 5-yard line and one at the 2. In addition, Miller averaged 52.6 yards on seven kickoffs. He notched his second touchback of the season with a 65-yard boot in the third quarter. Miller leads all GLVC kickers with 85 points on the season, good for fourth among all conference players. He also leads the league in field goal percentage (.833), and he has not missed an extra point attempt in 87 consecutive tries dating back to Sep. 14, 2013. This is Miller's fourth career weekly nod as he was also recognized by the conference last week, on Oct. 7, 2013, and Oct. 29, 2012.
