INDIANAPOLIS – McKendree University junior quarterback Isaac Fisher and sophomore linebacker A.J. Wentland, as well as University of Indianapolis kicker senior Scott Miller, have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Players of the Week in football, it was announced by the league office Monday.

Fisher was tabbed GLVC Offensive Player of the Week, Wentland was picked Defensive Player of the Week, while Miller was named Special Teams Player of the Week.

Wentland had another stellar week at middle linebacker in leading McKendree to a 56-36 win at Lincoln University on Saturday. The Machesney Park, Illinois native led the Bearcats with 16 tackles, including 10 solos. The 16 stops was just one off his career high of 17, set last week against William Jewell. Wentland had 1.5 tackles for loss and half a sack in the 20-point victory over the Blue Tigers. With his 16 tackles, Wentland became the Bearcats' single-season leader in the category. He now has 122 tackles on the year, surpassing the previous best of 108 stops set by Brandon Nigro in his senior season of 2011. He has recorded 10 or more tackles in all but one of the Bearcats' 10 games this season. In addition to his team-record 122 tackles, Wentland has 7.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and is tied for the team lead with a pair of interceptions.  This is Wentland’s first career weekly honor and the third for McKendree in four weeks as Lucky Baar was recognized on Nov. 3 and Oct. 20.
