INDIANAPOLIS – McKendree University junior quarterback Isaac Fisher and sophomore linebacker A.J. Wentland, as well as University of Indianapolis kicker senior Scott Miller, have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Players of the Week in football, it was announced by the league office Monday.

Fisher was tabbed GLVC Offensive Player of the Week, Wentland was picked Defensive Player of the Week, while Miller was named Special Teams Player of the Week.

Fisher broke two more records with his performance during the Bearcats' 56-36 victory on Saturday at Lincoln University. He became the first McKendree quarterback in program history to throw five touchdown passes in contest when he accomplished the feat against the Blue Tigers. Fisher needed just 24 minutes to set the new mark, breaking the old record of four set by older brother Austin Fisher in a 2010 game at Quincy University. In fact, Fisher threw a TD pass on the Bearcats' first five possessions on Saturday. He played just two-and-a-half quarters against Lincoln and finished the day by going 14-of-21 for 249 yards with his 5 TD passes. In addition, the Washington, Illinois native rushed for 73 yards on 10 carries with a long of 35 yards. The 56 points scored by McKendree is a season high, and the Bearcats have now won four consecutive games for the first time since the 2010 season. Thanks to his five TD passes, Fisher also broke the Bearcats' all-time record for passing TDs. He now has 42 in his three seasons at McKendree, surpassing the previous record of 39 also set by Austin Fisher. For the season, Fisher has completed 61.5 percent of his pass attempts for 2,438 yards with 18 touchdowns. He needs two TD passes to break the team record he established last season.  This is McKendree’s first-ever offensive honor from the conference.
