INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference has named University of Indianapolis freshman Paxton DeHaven its GLVC Player of the Month for October in women’s golf, it was announced Monday.  DeHaven earned the honor following a vote from the league’s women’s golf coaches.

The Seymour, Indiana native played in six rounds over the course of three tournaments, averaging 76.5 in the month of October.

In what was arguably the toughest competition field of the season, DeHaven placed 19th overall with a 36-hole score of 153 (79-74) to help UIndy finish sixth at the 18-team Guy Harvey Invitational event at PGA National in Palm Beach Garden, Florida, Oct. 6-7.

At the University of Findlay’s William Bing-Beall Fall Classic, Oct. 12-13, the Greyhounds took first in the 15-team field, with DeHaven grabbing medalist honors for the second time in her young career.  DeHaven topped the field with a first-round 73 and final-round 76 to finish at 5-over par.

UIndy finished the month at the UIS Island Getaway in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, Oct. 27-28.  The Greyhounds scored another team victory with DeHaven placing tied for sixth at 157 (80-77).

This is the first career monthly award for DeHaven and the first for a Greyhound since Jenny Konop was named the April honoree back this past spring.
