INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference has named Bellarmine University freshman DJ Vogt its GLVC Player of the Month for October in men’s golf, it was announced Monday.  Vogt earned the honor following a vote from the league’s men’s golf coaches.

Vogt played in two events last month, posting a 72.25 stroke average through four rounds.
On Oct. 5, he captured the Dan Salisbury Memorial Collegiate individual title with a 36-hole score of 141.  His win also helped secure a team victory for Bellarmine, which bested GLVC members Illinois Springfield and Maryville Saints by four shots in the field of eight teams. The Louisville, Kentucky native finished the tournament 3-under-par at the Piper Glen Golf Course after rounds of 70 and 71. The individual championship marked Vogt's first collegiate victory in just his fourth start as a college player.

The following week at the Midwest Region Fall Invitational #2, held at Glen Echo Country club in St. Louis, Vogt fired consecutive rounds of 74 to finished tied for 12th overall at 148.  The Knights were alone in third place after a first-round 298, but they added 10 shots in the final round in slipping two spots to fifth in the 18-team field.

In the five fall tournaments, Vogt led the Knights in scoring on four occasions.

This is the first career monthly award for Vogt and the first for a Knight since Bryan Ratterman was named the April honoree back in 2013.
