INDIANAPOLIS – University of Wisconsin Parkside senior Gaby Bronson was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Nov. 14-15, it was announced by the league Monday.
Bronson claims the award after averaging 19.5 points per game, 8.0 assists per game, and 7.5 rebounds per game, guiding the Rangers to a 2-0 start and earning Co-MVP honors at the Highway 76 Classic.
The 6-0 combo player poured on 20 points to lead all scorers in the season opener on Nov. 14 against host Minnesota State University-Moorhead, helping the Rangers to the 70-61 win before notching a triple double the following night in an 82-64 win over the University of Minnesota-Crookston to conclude the tournament. Bronson led the Rangers with 19 points, 14 assists and 10 rebounds while sinking 11 free throws on the memorable night.
The Whitefish Bay, Wis., native boasted an assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.2 for the week while shooting 50 percent from three-point range and 81 percent (17-for-21) from the charity stripe.
Bronson is the first Ranger to claim the weekly honor since Jenna Endisch netted the award on Dec. 20, 2012.
