INDIANAPOLIS – Truman State University senior guard Seth Jackson has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week for men’s basketball, it was announced by the league office Monday.

Jackson continued his red-hot start to the 2014-15 season this past week, leading the Bulldogs to two victories, including the team’s fourth straight win against Quincy in the conference opener.

The St. Louis, Missouri, native averaged 28.0 points per game and shot 61.3 percent (19-for-31) from the field in Truman’s two wins. He went 2-for-5 from three-point range and hit 80 percent (16-of-20) of his free throw opportunities, averaging 24.0 minutes per game.  He also finished with averages of 2.0 rebounds, 1.5 steals, 1.0 block, and 0.5 assists per game.

This past Thursday, he played just 17 minutes in the 109-44 win against Lincoln Christian, scoring 23 points on 6-of-7 shooting.  He scored 17 points in 10 minutes of action in the first half, before adding the final six in the second half.

On Saturday, Jackson impressed in the GLVC opener for both the Bulldogs and Quincy. He scored a career-high 33 points, shooting 13-of-24 from the floor, while adding three rebounds, two blocks, and a steal.

Jackson, who currently leads the conference in scoring at 23.7 points per game, has now topped the 20-point mark four times this season and has set or matched a new career-high four times.

The honor is Jackson’s first of his career and the first for a Bulldog since Mike Carlson earned last year’s final award on March 3.
