Metz impressed in the pool at the Mabee Center as she helped the Cardinals to a dual-meet sweep over Lewis week, swimming arguably her best-ever effort over her four year career.
In Wednesday’s 142-79 victory over the Flyers, Metz took first in the 800-meter Freestyle with a time of 9:30.79 and also took first in the 400 meter IM with a time of 5:09.01. In the 116-89 win over Lewis on Thursday, she took first in the 1500 Freestyle with a time of 18:06.82 and the 400 Freestyle with a time of 4:38.82. The Topeka, Kansas, native also turned in a second place finish in the 200 Fly, while also contributing to a first- and second-place result in the 400 and 800 Freestyle Relays, respectively.
This is first weekly honor for Metz and the first for a Cardinal since Ida Nyman won the program’s first-ever award back on Nov. 18, 2014.
