Lewis University junior sprinter Chantel Stennis and senior pole vaulter Rebecca Priesler have been respectively named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, it was announced by the conference office Thursday.
Stennis won three events at the Lewis Open this past Friday, including the 55 meters, 300 meters and the 4x400-meter relay. In the 55 meters, she ran an NCAA Provisional time of 7.15 seconds, which converts to a 7.71 in the 60 meters – a GLVC Championship event. That time is currently first in the conference and tied for 13th nationally. Stennis then came back and won the 300 meters with a time of 41.07, and ran the third leg on the victorious 4x400 squad.
The honor is the second GLVC weekly award for Stennis as she picked up the season’s first accolade back on Dec. 11, 2014.
