Lewis University junior sprinter Andre Barnes and junior jumper Isaac Jean-Paul have been respectively named the first Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week of the 2014-15 season.

At the Early Bird Meet hosted by Grand Valley State University last week, Barnes won the 400 meters in a school record 47.67 seconds, which is currently the best time in the country, regardless of NCAA division.  The Mount Prospect, Illinois, native came back to anchor the 4x400-meter relay to an NCAA provisional time of 3:16.67 – the second-fastest time in Division II this year.

This is Barnes' first weekly honor in his indoor career and the first for a Flyer since Andrew McLain was recognized on Dec. 11, 2013.

Jean-Paul cleared an NCAA provisional height of 6'-11.75" in the high jump at the GVSU Early Bird Meet last week, good for a second-place finish.  The Gurnee, Illinois, native's mark is currently tops among Division II jumpers.  He also finished second in the long jump with a leap of 22'5.75".

The award marks Jean-Paul's first in the indoor season and it's the first for a Flyer field standout since Scott Barnas was honored on Feb. 23, 2010.
