Drury University senior Samuel Olson and junior Rebekah Laupp have been named the PNC Great Lakes Valley Conference Athletes of the Week in the sports of men’s and women’s swimming and diving, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Laupp impressed on both the 1- and 3-meter boards this past week in dual meets against Missouri State and Missouri.  In the “Duel in the Pool” against Missouri State on Thursday, Laupp qualified for the NCAA Championships with first-place performances on both boards, with her 3-meter score of 322.88 setting a new school record.  She scored 258.75 on the 1-meter.  Against Missouri this past Friday, she again met national qualifying standards on the 3-meter (268.28) and finished second on the 1-meter (215.03).

The Columbia, Missouri, native becomes the first female diver to be honored by the conference office and just the second diver to earn Athlete of the Week honors as UIndy diver Tyler Offutt was recognized on Oct. 15, 2013.
