Drury University senior Samuel Olson and junior Rebekah Laupp have been named the PNC Great Lakes Valley Conference Athletes of the Week in the sports of men’s and women’s swimming and diving, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Olson earned two first-place finishes and a runner-up result in the “Duel In the Pool” against Missouri State last Thursday, before garnering a win and two seconds at Missouri on Friday.  In the crosstown meet with Missouri State, Olson placed first in the 50 Freestyle (:20.35) and the 100 Freestyle (:44.67), with the latter coming in the form of a new pool record.  His second place finish came in the 200 Medley Relay, which included his :20.17 split time on the Free.  Against Missouri, Olson won the 100 Free (:49.59) and placed second in the 50 Free (:20.70) and the 200 Medley Relay, nearly duplicating his split from Thursday with a :20.27 on the Free.

A native of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Olson earns his first weekly award and is the first Panther honored since Sean Feher on Nov. 25, 2014.
