Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Mallory Clements (Mt. Pulaski, Ill.) is the Baden/Great Lakes Valley Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. The junior setter helped the Cougars to three wins last week, including a victory at 20th-ranked Rockhurst on Friday.
On the week, Clements averaged 13.81 assists, 2.4 kills and 3.2 digs per game. She recorded her school-record 12th triple-double at Rockhurst and helped SIUE extend its consecutive winning streak in GLVC regular season play to 34. Clements also tallied five service aces and five blocks in the three matches.
In SIUE’s 3-0 win over visiting Quincy on Tuesday, Clements posted four kills and eight digs while delivering 36 assists.
She returned in the key road win at Rockhurst on Friday to collect 15 kills, 58 assists, 15 digs, two service aces and three blocks. The Cougars took the match, 3-1.
In the Cougars’ 3-1 win at Drury on Saturday, Clements again posted 58 assists and added seven kills, 12 digs and two service aces.
She is averaging 11.65 assists, 3.57 digs and 2.07 kills per game for the Cougars on the season.
SIUE, ranked 15th in the CSTV/AVCA National Poll, extended their current winning streak to five matches with the three wins and is now 11-3 on the year and 4-0 in GLVC play. The Cougars sit alone atop the GLVC West Division standings with the unblemished league mark and will return to the court against Missouri-Rolla and Missouri-St. Louis at home this weekend.
