Bellarmine University senior sprinter Meghan Jones and Lewis University senior pole vaulter Rebecca Priesler have been respectively named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, it was announced by the conference office Tuesday.
Jones placed first in the 400 meters at UIndy’s Greyhound Classic with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 56.42 seconds. The All-American set a new school record by breaking her previous mark of 57.48 at the 2013 Tom Hathaway Challenge. She is currently first in the GLVC and sixth nationally with the time.
This is the Greenville, Indiana, native’s first career weekly honor and the first for a Knight in the indoor season since Emily Frith was recognized on Feb. 19, 2014.
