McKendree University junior sprinter Cameron James and Lewis University junior jumper Isaac Jean-Paul have been respectively named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, it was announced by the conference office Tuesday.

James beat a field of NCAA Division I sprinters in winning the 60-meter dash at the John Craft Invitational hosted by Eastern Illinois University this past weekend with a time of 6.73 seconds.  The time is a personal record for James, which also automatically qualified him for the NCAA Championships.  He is currently seeded first in the GLVC and fourth in the nation with that time.  He also placed eighth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.05, which is currently third fastest in the conference this year.

The Edwardsville, Illinois native is the first Bearcat track standout to ever earn a weekly honor during the indoor season.
