University of Southern Indiana senior forward/center Anna Hackert has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in women's basketball, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Hackert averaged 15.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 4.5 blocks, and 1.5 steals per game to lead the Screaming Eagles to a pair of conference road wins.
The Evansville, Indiana, native began the week by posting her 15th double-double of the season with 16 points and 15 rebounds in USI's 67-53 victory over McKendree. Her double-double, the 40th of her career, moved her to within one of Africa Sherrod's single-season school record and matched USI and GLVC Hall of Famer LeAnn Freeland's career mark. In addition to her scoring and rebounding, Hackert dished out three assists and recorded four blocks as USI snapped a two-game losing streak.
On Saturday, Hackert finished with a game-high 14 points to go along with eight rebounds in USI's 70-58 victory over Illinois Springfield. Hackert, who moved into fourth all-time at USI with 1,423 points, also dished out three assists while matching a career-high five blocks as the Eagles earned their fifth straight road win.
For the week, Hackert shot 50.0 percent from the field and 11-of-22 shooting and was 8-of-10 (.800) from the free throw line. On the season, she leads the Eagles with 15.1 points and 11.6 rebounds per game.
Hackert earns the sixth honor of her career and the third this season, having also been recognized by the conference on Nov. 24 and Dec. 15, 2014.
